Nirban – Building a Visual Universe for an Action-Thriller
An extensive visual identity and marketing campaign designed for the action-thriller short film "Nirban: The Ultimate Payback." This project showcases a cohesive branding strategy across multiple platforms, including theatrical posters, character cards, and optimized YouTube thumbnails. The design language utilizes gritty textures, high-octane cinematic lighting, and aggressive typography to translate the film's theme of intense revenge and "payback" into a compelling visual narrative.

Forging the Visual Identity of Revenge: A Case Study of "Nirban"
"Nirban" is an intense action-drama focusing on themes of betrayal and retribution. As the director and lead visual designer, I was responsible for creating the entire "Visual Ecosystem" of the film. The goal was to build a brand that feels large-scale and high-budget, ensuring consistency from the first teaser glimpse to the final 4K release.

Design Approach & Marketing Strategy
1. Aggressive Brand Identity (Typography):
The title "নির্বাণ" was designed with a heavy, stone-like texture, featuring "cracks" and "scars." This reflects the "hard-hitting" nature of the film. The red-and-white color variants were used strategically—Red for the intensity of "Payback" and White for the clarity of "Resolution."2. Character-Driven Storytelling (Character Cards):
I designed a series of character posters (Raju Boss, Raj, Evan) using a "Torn Paper" or "Glitch" aesthetic. This visual style suggests that the world of the characters is fractured and unstable. Each character was assigned a specific "Glow" effect (Orange for heat/action, Cyan/Green for mysterious/tech energy) to give them unique identities within the same universe.3. High-Octane Compositing:
In the main posters, I utilized Extreme Rim Lighting and Action Sparks to create a 3D "pop-out" effect. The muzzle flashes and smoke trails were digitally painted to add realism to the action shots, ensuring that the "thriller" element is communicated instantly.4. Multi-Format Optimization:
A key part of this project was scalability. I developed:Portrait Posters: For traditional film promotion.
Landscape Thumbnails: Optimized for high Click-Through-Rate (CTR) on YouTube, focusing on "Hero shots" and bold "Glimpse Out Now" call-outs.
Social Media Cards: Square formats for Instagram/Facebook countdowns.
5. Cinematic Color Grading:
The overall palette is dominated by Teal-and-Orange and High-Contrast Noir. I used heavy film grain and distressed overlays to move away from a clean digital look, providing that "Big Screen" gritty feel.
Tools Used
Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Compositing, Character Masking, Digital Lighting, and Color Harmonization.
Digital Painting: For muzzle flashes, sparks, and atmospheric effects.
