DARD – Cinematic Film Poster Design
Project Overview
This project involved designing the official promotional poster for "DARD", a high-profile Indo-Bangladesh co-production starring Megastar Shakib Khan and Sonal Chauhan. Directed by Anonno Mamun, the film is a pan-Indian venture that required a visual identity capable of resonating with a massive, diverse audience across borders.

The Challenge
The title "DARD" translates to "Pain". The challenge was to encapsulate this raw emotion and intensity into a single frame. I needed to create a visual narrative that felt both intimate and grand, highlighting the lead characters while building an atmosphere of suspense and emotional weight.
Design Approach & Case Study
I focused on a high-contrast, atmospheric style to bring the story to life:
Color Theory (The Fiery Palette): I chose a dominant palette of deep reds, oranges, and blacks. Red symbolizes passion, danger, and "pain," while the orange glow provides a "fire-lit" effect, making the characters stand out against the shadows.
Compositional Hierarchy: The lead actor, Shakib Khan, is placed centrally to command attention. Behind him, the secondary characters are blended into the background using a layered masking technique, suggesting a complex web of relationships and hidden conflicts.
Lighting & Texturing: I utilized rim lighting and soft glows to add a three-dimensional depth to the portraits. Sublte textures and light leaks were added to create a "gritty" cinematic feel, moving away from a flat digital look.
Typography Design: The title "DARD" features a bold, distressed, and blocky typeface. The "weathered" texture on the letters reflects the roughness of the theme, while the sharp edges suggest a sense of danger.
Professional Billing Block: To ensure a standard industry look, I meticulously arranged the production house logos (Eskay Movies, Actioncut) and the credit block to maintain balance without distracting from the main visuals.
Tools Used
Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Compositing, Color Grading, and Digital Painting.
Camera Raw: For fine-tuning skin tones and cinematic contrast.
