"Bondi" – Dramatic Short Film Poster Design
This cinematic poster was designed for the short film "Bondi," which explores the emotional struggle and psychological pressure of an unemployed youth. Utilizing a high-contrast red and blue color palette, the design visually translates the feeling of being "imprisoned" by societal expectations and constant rejection. The composition uses symbolic lighting and distressed textures to create a powerful narrative-driven visual.

Visualizing the Weight of Unemployment: A Case Study of the "Bondi" Music Video Poster
"Bondi" (The Captive) is a social realism-based short film that delves into the harsh reality of unemployment. As the designer (and director), my goal was to create a poster that doesn't just show characters but tells the entire emotional arc of the story at a single glance.

Design Approach & Concept
The Metaphor of "Bondi": The title "Bondi" translates to being captive or imprisoned. To represent this visually, I used a layered masking technique where the central large portrait is seen behind blue "prison bars" created with light and shadow. This symbolizes being trapped within one's own circumstances.
Dual Tone Color Palette: I chose a Blue vs. Red theme to create visual tension.
Blue: Represents coldness, despair, sadness, and the feeling of isolation.
Red: Represents the intensity of the struggle, the burning pressure of society, and the "danger" of losing hope.
Compositional Narrative: The bottom of the poster features smaller figures in different states—studying, working hard, and feeling defeated. This multi-layered composition shows the repetitive cycle of effort and failure that the protagonist goes through.
Embedded Details: If you look closely, I’ve added distressed text elements like "Rejected," "Fail," and "বেকার" in the background. These are subtle cues that reinforce the theme of constant rejection mentioned in the tagline: "একজন বেকার ছেলের চাকরি না পাওয়ার গল্প".
Typography: The Bengali title is designed with a bold, 3D metallic finish. The sharp, heavy edges give the title a sense of weight and importance, anchoring the top of the poster.
Tools Used
Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Compositing, Lighting, and Color Grading.
Digital Imaging: Creating custom textures and distressed overlays for a gritty cinematic feel.
