"Bisonnota" – A Visual Study of Emotional Depression
An artistic film poster for the drama "Bisonnota" (Depression). The design uses a unique layered composition and an oil-painted texture to explore themes of emotional disconnection and internal conflict. By merging character portraits into a singular cohesive frame, the poster tells a story of memories, relationships, and the isolation within.

Beyond the Frame: An Artistic Case Study of the "Bisonnota" Film Poster
"Bisonnota" (meaning Depression) is a character-driven short film exploring the complexities of human emotions. As the director and lead designer, my challenge was to create a poster that feels less like a digital photo and more like a piece of Fine Art, reflecting the deep, soulful narrative of the story.

Design Approach & Case Study
1. The "Inner World" Composition:
Instead of a traditional layout, I utilized a double-exposure-inspired layering technique. The two secondary characters are placed within the silhouette of the protagonist. This visual metaphor suggests that they are part of his thoughts, memories, or the cause of his "alienation." It creates an immediate sense of intrigue about the character's internal struggle.2. Artistic Oil-Paint Texture:
To elevate the poster into an artistic realm, I applied a custom-designed Oil-Paint/Impressionist texture across the entire canvas. This hides the sharp digital edges and gives the visual a timeless, handcrafted quality. It mirrors the "messy" and complex nature of human emotions depicted in the film.3. Light and Shadow (Ethereal Rays):
I integrated light rays (God rays) streaming from the background. This lighting choice provides a sense of hope or perhaps a "divine" intervention into the protagonist’s dark emotional state. The contrast between the warm light and the cool teal background adds a layer of cinematic depth.4. Bold Textured Typography:
The title "বিচ্ছিন্নতা" is rendered in a deep red, blocky typeface with a "cracked" or "distressed" texture. The red color provides a stark contrast to the greenish-teal background, signifying the "pain" or "intensity" of the separation. The choice of a heavy font reflects the weight of the film's theme.5. Narrative Hierarchy:
The protagonist’s distant gaze, directed away from the viewer, reinforces the theme of "Bichinnata" (Isolation). He is physically present but mentally elsewhere. The placement of the credits at the bottom is kept clean to ensure the focus remains entirely on the artistic imagery.
Tools Used
Adobe Photoshop: Advanced Photo Manipulation, Texture Mapping, and Lighting Effects.
Digital Brushes: For the custom paint-like finishes.
